Last night Wanganui Squash Club hosted the second round of the 92.2 More FM Premier Interclub Squash Competition.
Home team Harvey Round Motors Wanganui took on Higgins Palmerston North Green with Palmerston North coming out on top 3/1. There were some very tight matches with 2 matches going the full 5 sets, and in fact Wanganui held match balls in both the doubles match and the match between Danielle Fourie and Alan Dallas, before eventually losing both.
In the match between top of the table Inspire Net Palmerston North Blue and Sports Arena Masterton saw a 4/0 clean sweep to cement their position at the top of the table. Solid wins were recorded by Joseph Watts over Matt Spooner, and Ben Murphy over Justin Brown. The doubles was won by Palmerston North in a tight 4 sets. Match of the round saw Jarrad Boyle come back from 2 love down against Masterton's Mike Stagg to eventually run out the winner 14/12 in the fifth, picking up the player of the night award in the process.
The final match saw PNBHS take on Rangitikei who going into the match were tied in 2nd equal position on the points table. PNBHS completed the second 4/0 clean sweep of the night with notable wins to Jason Fletcher over Dylan Tasker and Tyron Fourie over Warren Mant.
