Rising New Zealand squash star Joelle King has been crowned champion at the New Zealand National Championships in Whakatane.
King claimed her maiden national title with an 11-4, 8-11, 11-6 11-5 upset win over world number 14 Jaclyn Hawkes in the final. It caps a stellar year for the 21-year-old from Cambridge, who has risen to number 20 in the world rankings.
Meanwhile, there is also a new men's national champion, with Campbell Grayson taking out the title. The world number 42 was too good for Wellington's Evan Williams in the final, winning 15-13, 11-1, 11-5.
