Masters Battle at Nationals

Central traveled to Whangarei this year for the NZ masters.  Playing a tough 7 games in 5 days there were some tired and injured bodies by the end.

First up was the individuals which had a whopping 188 players in the draw. Central had some good results.  

Carina Brasell took out the graded individuals section, Janice Trevathan runner up in the 65+, Kent Darlington 3rd in the 45-49 years and Aroha Beattie and Kelly Webber taking out the consolation plates.

After 3 days of individuals Central seeded 9th  went into the teams event.  They took on 3rd seeds Canterbury first.  The score was neck and neck all the way through.  Canterbury just pulling away towards the end winning 7-5.  They went back to back taking on Bay of plenty who came second overall in the afternoon going down.

Day 2 of the teams was tough with sore bodies and some players carrying injuries.  Central went down to Wellington 4-8 and Southland 3-9. At the end of the competition Central retained their seeding of 9th.

Auckland took out the Masters this year. 

All in all Central had fun and are already talking about playing next year in Wellington.
