After 3 days of competition the 2016 Central and Taranaki  Open Titles were taken back to Palmerston North.  The Mens open was won by top seed Jason van der Walt who defeated Stephen Bennett 11/8 14/12 11/8 in the final.  Jason beat Brandon Keenan in the semis 3/1 and Stephen beat Nick Stretton 3/1  

The Womens Open top seed and favourite to take the Tamsyn Leevey was defeated on the day in 5.  The young and talented Kaitlyn Watts beat Tamsyn Leevey 6/11 8/11 11/6 11/2 12/10.  Kaitlyn prooves time and again she produces her best games as the underdog.

The Subway and Cleggs sponsored Central Open squash tournament ( which also includes the Taranaki Open) is being held at the Kawaroa Park squash club 1-3 July 2016.


There are 14 divisions being played which cover all grades from A- F and also juniors.

The top seed for the mens open division

New Zealander Paul Coll has taken out the Fitzherbert Rowe Lawyers New Zealand International Squash Classic at SquashGym this afternoon in emphatic style.

Coll entered the match as slight favourite but he had never beaten Rex Hedrick in any of their previous meetings.


SquashGym were seeded 4th going into the 2016 Mitchell cup. There were 9 teams entered so we were put into 3 pools of 3 teams, with the team who topped the pool then going on to compete with the other two top teams in their pools for the Mitchel Cup. On Friday we were first up against 3rd seeds, Royal Oak.
