Central Juniors Win Second One Dayer

On Sunday 26th February Squashgym hosted the Central v Wellington Junior One Day Representative challenge.  It was great to see this competition played again as due to covid interruptions it hasn’t been challenged since 2019.

4 players from each age group (2 male + 2 female) competed in a busy day of squash, with excellent sportsmanship and skills on display.  Central took an early strong lead after round 1, which they were able to maintain during round 2 to win the trophy for another successive year.

Our district junior rep teams have had successful challenges against both Eastern and Wellington Districts this year to win both challenges and we are very proud of our players.

Thanks goes to our Junior Coaches, Matt Laurensen, Tamysn Leevey & Peter Arnott for their coaching and support in the lead up to the challenges and during both day events.

Special thanks goes to all the parents and players who travelled, giving their child these opportunities to represent the district and ensure these challenges go ahead.

Whilst there is nothing significant on the calendar of the Central Junior Squad until National Age Champs in September, further training camps are hopefully on the agenda.  The Prince Series will also commence in April accommodating juniors below 900 points.
