Can Bennett and Ratcliffe make it 5?

The Stephen Bennett and Matthew Ratcliffe pairing are the most successful in Central Squash history with 4 titles to their names. The 2023 Central Doubles kicks off tonight at SquashGym Palmerston North. Bennett and Ratcliffe are seeded second to PSA ranked player Allan Bailey (Kawaroa Park) and Matt Nation (SquashGym). Both teams will have a hard road ahead to the final with some impressive pairings to get through.

In the women's competition the team to beat would have to be top seeds Abbie Holmes and Tamsyn Leevey both of (Kawaroa Park). Both are excellent doubles players with Leevey having many years experience under her belt along with some commonwealth medals. Holmes is a hard hitting up and coming A grader who is coached by Leevey. Their closest challengers will be second seeded Anabel Romero and Leonie Marshall of Squashgym, Palmerston Nth.

The Mixed division is full of talent from top to bottom with top seeds being father and daughter A grade combo Victor and Anabel Romero, in second seed we have last years winning pairing of Stephen Bennett and Abbie Holmes which will promise a lot of reverse boasting and some fast pace action. In third seeding is the not to be underestimated Bailey team, siblings Allan and Gina Bailey are both experienced top players who could sneak a title win.

Play kicks off tonight at 5pm on the doubles courts so head down after work for a cold one and enjoy the action.
