Central Masters take 9th spot at Nationals

The Central Masters team battled well at the NZ Masters individual and teams event.  The team had some hard battles against Southland, Canterbury and Otago losing all until the final day when they defeated Northland on count back 21-24 games to Central.  Placing them 9th in the teams event.

The team lost top A grader and second seed in his 45 + division Kent Darlington after he struggled with injury he retired after the 3rd round of individual competition.  Our most successful player in the individuals was newbie Matt Nation who has recently entered masters and made it to the final of the age group where he was up against a classy Oliver Johnston (Canterbury) who was a whole other level and claimed the title in 3/0.  All the team players extremely well and did Central proud.

The team consisted of

Matt Nation Emma Rowe
Jared Scrivens Michelle Habib
Kent Darlington Fiona Gifford-Moore
Daryl O'Hara Jodie Munn
Mike Donald Aroha Beattie
Colin Swainson Louise McCoard
Manager Pauline Chapman
